SDA Bytes - Year in Review and Plans for 2026
At SDA Bytes, we’re here to help you with your corporate training needs.
Our goal is to help you engage with your employees so they can stay current with their skills, gain self-confidence, and grow with your organization. By using our quiz app, you can assess their knowledge for potential promotions or identify skill gaps to help move your organization forward.
In this article, I’ll review our progress during 2025 and then present our roadmap for 2026. Let’s start with a review of the past year.
2025 in Review
In 2025, we release our quiz web application as an MVP to allow you to quickly and easily create tests for your employees. Subsequent releases improved ease of use and extended capabilities with the following features:
- The ability to randomize questions and answers.
- Optionally allow your employees to skip a question or check an answer.
- Test management was simplified by adding in the ability to duplicate tests, questions, and answers as well as move questions between tests.
- Greater insight into test results was made available for administrators as shown in the following image.
Android app
The quiz application is designed to work on mobile browsers but using an app on a mobile device is sometimes more convenient so we created an Android app. The Android app can be found in the Google Play store here.
Skills
This past year also saw the addition of a Skills view as well as skills sections in the Tests and Users views.
Skills allow you to quickly determine where your employees stand in their current roles. It also allows you to easily see if an employee is ready to take on more responsibilities.
Once you define skills, you can associate them with your employees directly or via tests. Once assigned, you can then indicate the proficiency level of that skill as shown in the following image.
This feature also allows you to more easily perform a skill gap analysis to determine if you’re able to take on an opportunity or are ready for the future.
This past year was very productive but, with 2025 now behind us, let’s take a look at what’s in store for 2026.
Roadmap for 2026
The following are just some of the items that are on our roadmap for this year.
Skills Expanded
We have a lot more planned around the Skills feature including the following:
- Users will be able to request a skill be added to their profile
- When a user successfully completes a test, the skills associated with the test will be submitted for approval for the user
- An approval view will be created allowing an administrator to view skills submitted by tests and from user requests. If the administrator wants to approve the skill, they can either accept the proficiency as-is or adjust it before approving it.
User Profile view
We plan to improve the My Tests view to also show skills assigned and the proficiency rating given. Users will also be given the ability to request that a skill be added to their profile and view skills that are currently under review.
iOS app
While the quiz application is designed to work on mobile browsers too, we recognize the convenience of a mobile app. We plan to release an iOS app for Apple phones and tablets in the near future.
API
We have an API that we’re refining as we improve our test application. Our goal is to make the API available to you this year.
